The Instrument and Electrical Designer Entry Level is to assist in the production of design documents for I&E Design Department and reports directly to the Senior or Lead Instrument and Electrical Designer.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Production Management
- Assist in the preparation of Instrument and Electrical design documents in accordance with the project specifications and within project schedule.
- Effectively apply procedures and company standards
- Produce quality design documents
Communication
- Proactively participate in team meetings
- Communicate relevant project information to superiors
Technical Capabilities
- Develop through continuing education and training a thorough understanding in the areas of I&E Design including:
- Knowledge of NEC with specific emphasis on Hazardous Area design
- Ability to assist in the production of:
- Instrument Panel Layout
- Instrument Location Plans
- Instrument Installation Details
- Loop Drawings
- Instrument List
- Logic Diagrams
- Analyzer Installation Drawings
- One Line Diagrams
- Electrical Detail Drawings
- Lighting Plans and Details
- Control Panel Layout and Wiring Diagrams
- Junction Box Layout and Wiring Diagrams
- Breaker Panel Drawings
- Conduit/Cable Tray Routing Plans and Details
- Wire/Cable Schedule
- Grounding and Bonding Plans
- Area Classification Drawings
- Basic knowledge of UL Industrial Control Panel fabrication standards for non-hazardous (UL 508A) and hazardous locations (UL 1203, 698A)
- Assist in conducting field audits and investigations of customer facilities and manufacturing plants
- Develop a thorough understanding of company’s capabilities

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
- Associates Degree or Related Technical Training in Instrument and Electrical Design for the Manufacturing, Oil, or Gas industries.
- Working knowledge of NEC with specific emphasis on Hazardous Area design
- Basic knowledge of SKM Power Tools
- Proficient with MS Office
- Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
Travel
- Occasional travel to client offices and construction sites will be required
- I&E Designer’s may travel from 10-20% of the year. Scope and duration of travel varies depending on the phase and needs of any given project (e.g. sales, front end design, installation, commissioning, and start-up).
