Job Title:             Project Manager - Manufacturing
Business Unit:    System Integration and Fabrication Group (SI&F)

Objective/Job Purpose:

The System Integration and Fabrication Group (SI&F) Project Manager “owns” their projects from the initial award through the completion of fabrication, shipment / delivery, and post shipment client follow-up and satisfaction.  This includes support for proposal development, coordination with engineering and design, material acquisition, fabrication, quality, shipping, and all commercial aspects of the projects including compliance with client contracts, change order management, timely invoicing, and when necessary Accounts Receivable support. 
The SI&F PM is responsible for ensuring that our firm meets or exceeds the quality, schedule, and budget goals for each project.

Duties and Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
  • Identifies resources needs and communicates these needs to department managers
  • Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project
  • Reviews deliverables prepared by team before issuing to our clients
  • Maintains the project schedule and resource plans
  • Effectively applies company procedures and enforces project standards
  • Minimizes company exposure and risk on a project by effectively managing contract obligations and aligning our work products with our client expectations
  • Ensures project documents are complete, current, and filed appropriately
  • Ensures all SI&F products are tested, QA\QC is complete, and all issues are resolved prior to shipping

Project Accounting

  • Tracks and reports project team hours and expenses on a weekly basis
  • Manages project budget and cash flow
  • Updates and maintains the project cost report
  • Ensures timely and accurate invoicing, and monitors receivables for project
  • Ensures timely and accurate approval of vendor billing, material receipt, and vendor payments
  • Follows up with clients, when necessary, regarding unpaid invoices
  • Analyzes project profitability, revenue, margins, bill rates and staff utilization

Financial Management

  • Understands basic revenue models, P/L, and cost projections and makes decisions accordingly
  • Understands our pricing model and billing procedures
  • Accurately forecasts revenue, profitability, margins, and utilization
  • Assures project legal documents are completed and signed. This includes contracts, terms and conditions, change orders, lien releases, etc.

Business Development

  • Identifies business development and "add-on" sales opportunities as they relate to a specific project
  • Leads proposal efforts including completing project definition
  • Effectively communicates in both written and verbal business development discussions


  • Facilitates team and client meetings effectively
  • Holds regular status meetings with the project team
  • Keeps the project team well informed of changes to the project scope
  • Effectively communicates relevant project information to superiors
  • Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion
  • Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully
  • Keeps track of lessons learned and shares those lessons with team members

Technical Capabilities

  • Possesses working knowledge of instrument and electrical control systems and industrial fabrication processes
  • Develops a thorough understanding of our company’s capabilities
  • Maintains awareness of new and emerging technologies and the potential application on client engagements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in a related field 
  • 3-5 years’ experience as a project coordinator/manager in a manufacturing or construction environment
  • Strong working knowledge of fabrication drawings and electrical schematics
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical Degree
  • PMP Certification
  • Proficient with MS Project


  • Occasional travel to client offices and construction sites will be required
  • SI&F PM’s may travel from 10-20% of the year.  Scope and duration of travel varies depending on the phase and needs of the project (e.g. front-end design, shop fabrication, installation, commissioning, and start-up).
